Volunteer

We're always seeking passionate individuals to join our team and contribute to the Raybel Charters’ story.

Whether you're an experienced crafts person with a knack for woodwork, a passionate wildlife gardener who can help maintain the Lloyd’s Wharf garden, or keen to share a love of learning with school groups, your skills and enthusiasm are welcome.

No experience is necessary – we'll provide comprehensive training to ensure you're equipped for the task at hand.

Types of volunteer work

  • Helping on the barge with restoration tasks - it would be helpful if you can give us an idea of any experience you have had.

  • Researching and telling the Raybel story in Sittingbourne and beyond - looking at archives, and creating content for our website and an exhibition.

  • Recording oral histories of people involved in the barge life of Sittingbourne.

  • Helping with open-barge days, events, doing tours and talks about the project.

  • Helping with school visits and involving other young people in the project.

  • Help us keep our wharf garden blooming and beautiful.

  • Help to plan Raybel Charters and Sail Cargo events throughout the year.

  • Get involved with our network of farmers, ships and traders, delivering food and drink across seas and oceans, emissions-free.
